Bio

Mr Scott Robbie has over 20 years鈥� experience in ophthalmology and trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he completed 2 years of advanced corneal and anterior segment surgical training, including a prestigious National Institute for Health Research Clinical Lectureship. Scott gained further experience at University of Iowa Hospitals in the United States, before joining St. Thomas鈥� Hospital as a Consultant in 2016.

Scott holds the Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery (LRS) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He is head of clinical governance for the department at St. Thomas鈥�, with responsibilities for patient safety, education and training, clinical effectiveness and quality improvement. He has oversight of St. Thomas鈥� renowned Corneal Fellowship programme and supervises surgical training.

Scott has performed thousands of cataract and corneal procedures and has a reputation for patient-focused, customised care that delivers the best possible visual outcomes. Surgical safety, innovation and investigation lie at the core of Scott鈥檚 approach. He is an author of over 50 peer-reviewed publications, invited reviews and book chapters and is a Medical Doctorate supervisor and Principle Investigator for clinical trials, including determining the feasibility of enhanced intraocular lenses for cataract surgery in the NHS. He holds a PhD from the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, is a Visiting Research Associate at the Centre for Gene Therapy & Regenerative Medicine, King鈥檚 College London and is Honorary Secretary for the Medical Contact Lens and Ocular Surface Association.

Scott was part of the team responsible for the first gene therapy trial for inherited retinal disease in the world and was one of a select group of eye surgeons providing care to athletes in the Athlete's Village at the London 2012 Olympics.
